Prospective Client Information

Many people who are arrested for a Tennessee DUI offense, another criminal offense or given a Tennessee traffic citation (ticket) find themselves experiencing the Tennessee criminal justice system for the first time. Even those who have some limited experience with the Tennessee criminal court or traffic court system may be overwhelmed with the legal and/or procedural complexities involved. The Oberman & Rice law firm is dedicated to helping our clients understand the crime with which they have been charged, whether it is a Tennessee Driving Under the Influence (DUI/DWI) charge or a Tennessee speeding ticket, as well as what to expect at each stage of the Tennessee criminal process.

Hire a Tennessee Attorney Immediately

After your arrest or citation, the most important thing you can do is consult with and hire an attorney as soon as possible. If you wait to hire a Tennessee DUI lawyer/Tennessee criminal defense lawyer, you take the risk of losing evidence that may be critical to the defense of your case or missing deadlines that are important to your defense.  To properly preserve the defenses in your case, your attorney must conduct a thorough interview of you as soon as possible after your Tennessee arrest.  Some think it best to wait until after their arraignment in court before hiring a lawyer. This is a common mistake which can result in serious consequences. One main purpose of an arraignment in Tennessee after arrest on a warrant is to schedule a new court date for a preliminary hearing of your case in the General Sessions Court.  Accordingly, the presence of your attorney at the arraignment is essential to ensure that your Tennessee lawyer is available on your scheduled Tennessee General Sessions court date.
